America 2-0 Coritiba: MG extend superb unbeaten form

America Mineiro beat Coritiba with a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Independencia. America were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Atl. Mineiro in their previous game. Coritiba, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Avai. America are now in 8th place on the table and have 35 points while Coritiba sit in 16th with 25 points after 25 matches.

America started the first half well, when Pedrinho found the net, 30 minutes in to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

America continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Matheusinho on the 78 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for America included Alexandre Egea, Martin Benitez, Danilo Avelar, Gonzalo Mastriani and Felipe Azevedo for Everaldo, Leandro Martinez, Marlon Matheus, Henrique Almeida and Pedrinho, respectively. Coritiba brought on Rafael Santos, Robinho, Warley, Thonny Anderson, and Biel, to replace Diego Porfirio da Silva, Egidio, Natanael, Adrian Martinez, and Fabricio Daniel.

There were bookings for Marlon Matheus and Pedrinho from America. For Coritiba, Alef Manga, Diego Porfirio da Silva and Thonny Anderson saw yellow.

America will play away against Botafogo, while Coritiba will face Atlético Goianense at home.
