America 0 – Ceará 2: Visitors secure points with win at Independencia

Ceará beat America Mineiro with a thumping 2-0 victory on Thursday at Independencia. America arrived at the match looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to São Paulo. Ceará had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Goiás EC. As the table looks today, both teams are on 14 points and sit in 14th and 10th places respectively after 10 matches.

Ceará started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Stiven Mendoza gave Ceará the lead at the 22 minute mark and the first half ended 1-0.

Ceará started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Stiven Mendoza found the net again at the 55 minute mark. The match ended with a 2-0 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for America included Wellington Paulista, Raul Caceres, Gustavinho, Rodriguinho and Henrique Almeida for Aloisio, Patric, Felipe Azevedo, Lucas Kal and Alexandre Egea, repectively. Ceará brought on Cleber Bomfim, Fernando Sobral, Geovane, Michel and Iury Lirio, to replace Matheus Peixoto, Rodrigo Lindoso, Richard, Vinicius Goes and Nino Paraiba.

There were bookings for Felipe Azevedo and Henrique Almeida from America, and Nino Paraiba, Richardson and Rodrigo Lindoso, for Ceará.

America next face Fluminense and Ceará are at home to Atl. Mineiro.
