Napoli 1 – Roma 1: Gli Azzurri denied all 3 points at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Napoli were held to 1-1 draw by Roma down on Monday at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 3-2 to Fiorentina whilst Roma were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Salernitana and Sampdoria. As it stands, Napoli and Roma currently occupy 3rd and 5th spots in the table, with 67 points and 58 points respectively after 33 matches.

Napoli started strongly in the first half, with Lorenzo Insigne finding the net in the 11th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Giallorossi took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Stephan El Shaarawy just before the final whistle. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Napoli, Piotr Zielinski, Diego Demme, Eljif Elmas, Dries Mertens and Juan Jesus, came on for Stanislav Lobotka, Fabian Ruiz, Hirving Lozano, Victor Osimhen and Lorenzo Insigne. Roma replaced Bryan Cristante, Nicola Zalewski, Sergio Oliveira, Gianluca Mancini and Nicolo Zaniolo for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Stephan El Shaarawy, Jordan Veretout, Carles Perez and Felix Afena-Gyan.

The referee booked Kalidou Koulibaly, Alessandro Zanoli, Hirving Lozano and Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli. Roma had the worst of it though, with Bryan Cristante and Nicolo Zaniolo seeing yellow, and Daniel Fuzato then sent off with a red.

Next up, Napoli are away to Empoli, whilst Roma will travel to face Internazionale.
