Inter 3 – Roma 1: Nerazzurri prevail in home win against Giallorossi

Internazionale beats Roma 3-1 on Saturday at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Inter were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches against Spezia Calcio away and Hellas Verona at home, by 3-1 and 2-0 respectively. Roma secured a point against Napoli in their previous match. As it stands, Inter are in 1st place, with 72 points from 34 matches, while Roma sit in 5th, with 58 points from 34.

Inter started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Denzel Dumfries finding the net in the 30th minute. Nerazzurri then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Marcelo Brozovic just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.

Inter fought back, thanks to Lautaro Martinez finding the net in the 52nd minute. Giallorossi in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The game ended with a 3-1 win for Inter.

For Inter, Joaquin Correa, Alessandro Bastoni, Roberto Gagliardini, Robin Gosens and Alexis Sanchez, came on for Edin Dzeko, Federico Dimarco, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Lautaro Martinez. Roma brought on Carles Perez, Jordan Veretout, Matias Vina, Eldor Shomurodov and Edoardo Bove for Stephan El Shaarawy, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Nicola Zalewski, Tammy Abraham and Sergio Oliveira.

There were bookings for Marcelo Brozovic and Hakan Calhanoglu from Inter. For Roma, Gianluca Mancini and Sergio Oliveira saw yellow.

Inter will next play Udinese away, with Roma facing Bologna at home.
