Fiorentina 2 – Salernitana 1: Visitors unable to get win at Stadio Artemio Franchi

On Wednesday, Salernitana suffered an away defeat to Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi. Fiorentina were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against Sampdoria away and Spezia Calcio away, by 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. Salernitana were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Fiorentina and Salernitana currently occupy 10th and 11th spots in the league, with 19 points and 17 points respectively after 14 matches.

The first half of the match started favourably for The Purple One, when Giacomo Bonaventura found the net, 15 minutes in, ending the first half 1-0.

granate staged a comeback in the second half, when Boulaye Dia found the net, at 55 minutes. In the end though, Fiorentina took the victory via a Luka Jovic goal in the 81st minute, which sealed the victory for Fiorentina.

Substitutions for Fiorentina included Riccardo Saponara, Antonin Barak, Aleksa Terzic, Luka Jovic and Alfred Duncan for Christian Kouame, Rolando Mandragora, Cristiano Biraghi, Arthur Cabral and Giacomo Bonaventura, respectively. Salernitana brought on Boulaye Dia, Giulio Maggiore, Ivan Radovanovic, Domagoj Bradaric and Erik Botheim, to replace Federico Bonazzoli, Tonny Vilhena, Emil Bohinen, Pasquale Mazzocchi and Lassana Coulibaly.

The referee booked Ivan Radovanovic for Salernitana.

Salernitana and Fiorentina will next play away to AC Monza and AC Milan respectively.
