Empoli 1 – Torino 3: The Bull travel to Carlo Castellani and seal win

Torino strolled past Empoli with a 3-1 win on Sunday at Carlo Castellani. Both sides arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Empoli were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Torino were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Spezia Calcio. At the moment, Empoli and Torino currently occupy 14th and 10th spots in the league, with 37 points and 47 points respectively after 35 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Azzurri took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Szymon Zurkowski, 56 minutes in. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Andrea Belotti, 78 minutes in brought The Bull level. Torino looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a effort from Andrea Belotti in the 87th minute to establish a 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Andrea Belotti made it 3-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.

For Empoli, Marco Benassi, Leo Stulac and Andrea La Mantia, came on for Federico Di Francesco, Liam Henderson and Szymon Zurkowski. Torino brought on Cristian Ansaldi, Samuele Ricci, Demba Seck and Andrea Belotti, to replace Mergim Vojvoda, Sasa Lukic, Wilfried Stephane Singo and Pietro Pellegri.

The referee booked Andrea Pinamonti, Liam Henderson and Petar Stojanovic from Empoli and Petar Stojanovic (2 yellow cards) and Valerio Verre went off with a red card, while Torino’s Mergim Vojvoda and Sasa Lukic also received a yellow.

Empoli will next play Internazionale away, with Torino facing Napoli at home.
