Cagliari 1-3 Inter: Inter Pushing to the Top of the Standing Table

Internazionale beat Cagliari with a thumping 3-1 victory on Sunday at Unipol Domus. Cagliari wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Salernitana. Inter were coming from consecutive wins against Empoli and Udinese. As the table looks today, Cagliari are in 18th place, with 29 points from 37 matches, while Inter sit in 2nd, with 81 points from 37.

Inter started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Matteo Darmian in the 25th minute, finishing the first half 0-1.

Nerazzurri started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to a goal from Lautaro Martinez, 51 minutes in. However, The Islanders weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Babis Lykogiannis at the 54 minute mark. Inter in turn, then responded, at 84 minutes increasing their lead with a second effort from Lautaro Martinez, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Cagliari, Nahitan Nandez, Keita Balde, Andrea Carboni, Daniele Baselli and Gaston Pereiro, came on for Marko Rog, Leonardo Pavoletti, Giorgio Altare, Razvan Marin and Dalbert. Inter brought on Roberto Gagliardini, Denzel Dumfries, Danilo D`Ambrosio, Joaquin Correa and Alexis Sanchez for Nicolo Barella, Matteo Darmian, Alessandro Bastoni, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.

The referee booked two players from Inter, Matteo Darmian and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Cagliari will next travel to Venezia, while Inter will face Sampdoria at home.
