Southampton 1-1 West Ham: Rice claws back a point for the Hammers

On Sunday, Soton and The Hammers played out a 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s Stadium. Soton arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 4-0 to Manchester City in their last match while The Hammers were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Soton are now in 18th place, with 8 points from 11 matches, while The Hammers sit in 11th, with 11 points from 11.

The Saints started the match strongly, when Romain Perraud found the net on the 20 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Hammers took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Declan Rice, at 64 minutes, to level the score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Soton included Duje Caleta-Car, Sekou Mara, Stuart Armstrong, Samuel Edozie and Ibrahima Diallo for Armel Bella-Kotchap, Che Adams, Adam Armstrong, Joe Aribo and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, respectively. The Hammers brought on Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio, to replace Emerson, Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca.

There were bookings for Kyle Walker-Peters from Soton, and Vladimir Coufal, for The Hammers.

Next up, Soton are away to Bournemouth, whilst The Hammers will travel to face Liverpool.
