On Monday, Forest and Villa played out a 1-1 draw at the City Ground. Forest were looking forward to playing again after losing 4-0 to Leicester City in their previous fixture. Villa had secured a point against Leeds United in their previous match. Forest and Villa currently occupy 19th and 16th spots in the table, with 5 points and 9 points respectively after 10 matches.

Red dogs dominated the first half, when Emmanuel Dennis found the net in the 15th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Ashley Young equalised for Villa, 22 minutes in, to take a 1-1 lead into half time. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Forest brought on Neco Williams, Sam Surridge and Lewis O’Brien for Serge Aurier, Emmanuel Dennis and Morgan Gibbs-White. Villa brought on Danny Ings, Leander Dendoncker and Cameron Archer, to replace Philippe Coutinho, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey.

There were bookings for Serge Aurier, Steve Cook and Ryan Yates from Forest, and Ezri Konsa, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey, for Villa.

Forest will next play Wolverhampton Wanderers away, with Villa facing Chelsea at home.
