Manchester United eased past Brentford in a 3-0 victory on Monday at Old Trafford. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Man U wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Chelsea in their previous game. Brentford, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Tottenham Hotspur. As things stand, Man U are in 6th place, with 58 points from 35 matches, while Brentford sit in 13th, with 40 points from 35.

Man U started strongly in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes opening the rout at the 9 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Man U continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo at the 61 minute mark. The Red Devils then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Raphael Varane, 72 minutes in to make it 3-0.

Man U brought on Fred, Edinson Cavani and Phil Jones for Nemanja Matic, Anthony Elanga and Juan Mata. Brentford brought on Mathias Jensen, Pelenda Da Silva and Yoane Wissa, to replace Christian Norgaard, Vitaly Janelt and Bryan Mbeumo.

The referee booked Nemanja Matic for Man U.

Man U will play their next fixture away against Crystal Palace, while Brentford will face Southampton at home.
