Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 on Saturday at Selhurst Park. Palace arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a scoreless draw against Newcastle United in their previous match. Chelsea, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against West Ham United. Palace are now in 16th place, with 6 points from 9 matches, while Chelsea sit in 5th, with 13 points from 9.

Palace started the match strongly, when Odsonne Edouard found the net early in the first half. However, their lead was short-lived, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised for The Blues on the 38 minute mark to see out the first half 1-1.

Chelsea continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Conor Gallagher found the net just before the full time. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Palace included James Tomkins, Jeffrey Schlupp, Will Hughes and Jean-Philippe Mateta for Nathaniel Clyne, Eberechi Eze, Cheick Oumar Doucoure and Odsonne Edouard, respectively. Chelsea brought on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic, to replace Jorginho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

There were bookings for Odsonne Edouard from Palace, and Thiago Silva, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic, for Chelsea.

Palace next face Leeds United while Chelsea are at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
