Burnley 1 – Villa 3: Home defeat for The Clarets as The Villa take points

Aston Villa beat Burnley with a thumping 3-1 victory on Saturday at Turf Moor. Both Burnley and Villa arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Burnley were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games against Watford away and Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. Villa were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Norwich City. At the moment, Burnley are in 16th place, with 34 points from 36 matches, while Villa sit in 10th, with 43 points from 36.

Villa started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Danny Ings finding the net after only 7 minutes. Villa then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Emiliano Buendia in the 31st minute. The score at half time was 0-2.

The Villa fought back, with Ollie Watkins finding the net at the 52 minute mark. In the end though, The Clarets just before the final whistle hit back though via a Maxwel Cornet goal. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for Villa.

Both managers used all available substitutions. For Burnley, Kevin Long, Maxwel Cornet and Erik Pieters, came on for James Tarkowski, Aaron Lennon and Ashley Barnes, Villa brought on Carney Chukwuemeka, Ashley Young and Philippe Coutinho, to replace Calum Chambers, Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia.

There were bookings for Josh Brownhill from Burnley, and Lucas Digne and Ollie Watkins, for Villa.

Burnley will play their next fixture away against Tottenham Hotspur, while Villa will face Crystal Palace at home.
