Vancouver Whitecaps 1-3 Minnesota: The Loons raid BC Place Stadium for three points

Minnesota United’s 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, was hard fought at BC Place Stadium. As it stands, both teams are on 24 points and occupy 9th and 8th places respectively after 26 matches.

After a goalless first half, Caps fought back the second half, when Cavallini gave The Village the lead, 66 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Hlongwane producing an equaliser in the 71st minute, bringing The Loons level. Minnesota looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Amarilla, 84 minutes in to establish a 2-1. Minnesota then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Fragapane just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.

Substitutions for Caps included Owusu, Raposo, Cavallini, Blackmon and Ricketts for Cubas, Godinho, White, Dájome and Vite, repectively. Minnesota brought on Hayes, Fisher and Kallman, to replace Lod, Lawrence and Reynoso.

The referee booked one player from Minnesota, Lod.
