Toronto FC 3-2 Chicago: Fire fightback burns out as Toronto secure the points

Chicago Fire fell to an away defeat at the hands of Toronto FC at BMO Field on Sunday. Phili were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against D.C. United. Chicago lost 1-0 in the last match they played against New York. As things stand, Phili are in 11th place on the table and has 15 points while Chicago sit in 14th with 11 points after 19 matches.

Phili found the net first, thanks to Kerr giving Phili the lead in the 13th minute. The score at half time was 1-0.

Chicago started the second half with an intensified spirit, with a goal from Terán at the 52 minute mark. The momentum was now with Chicago, who then scored again through a goal from Przybyłko at the 66 minute mark to establish a 2-1. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Pozuelo managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 72 minute mark at 2-2. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a second effort from Pozuelo in the 78th minute with a final score of 3-2.

For Phili, Nelson, Macnaughton, Shaffelburg, Perruzza and Priso-Mbongue, came on for Osorio, O’Neill, Jesús Jiménez, Akinola and Pozuelo. Chicago brought on Herbers, Durán and Gutierrez for Torres, Przybyłko and Navarro.

There were bookings for Pozuelo, Priso-Mbongue and Westberg from Phili. For Chicago, Przybyłko, Shaqiri and Terán saw yellow.
