Seattle 0-3 Portland: Sounders fail to match clinical finishing by The Timbers

Portland Timbers’ 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders on Saturday, was hard fought at CenturyLink Field. As the table looks today, both teams are on 26 points and occupy 7th and 8th places respectively after 26 matches.

Portland dominated the first half, when Niezgoda opened the rout, 24 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Portland continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Moreno found the net, at 81 minutes. The Timbers then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Paredes just before the final whistle to make it 3-0.

Substitutions for Seattle included Atencio, Medranda, Leo Chú and Bruin for Rowe, Rusnák, Roldan and Ruidíaz, repectively. Portland replaced Paredes, Asprilla, Loria, Tuiloma and Mora with Williamson, Blanco, Chará, Moreno and Niezgoda.

The referee booked eight players. Ragen, Roldan and Tolo from Seattle, who saw yellow cards and Ragen (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Portland Williamson, Chará, Asprilla and Chará received yellows.
