Seattle 2-1 Charlotte: The Sounders back to winning ways with success over Charlotte

Seattle Sounders eased past Charlotte FC in a 2-1 victory on Monday at CenturyLink Field. Seattle were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Colorado Rapids. Charlotte were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Vancouver Whitecaps in their last match. After today’s result, both teams are on 16 points and sit in 10th and 11th places respectively after 20 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Minted, with Bender giving Charlotte the lead at the 21 minute mark. The score at half time was 0-1.

The Sounders continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Morris in the 72nd minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Ruidíaz at the 80 minute mark with a final score of 2-1.

For Seattle, Montero, Rowe and Medranda, came on for Vargas, Rusnák and Morris. Charlotte brought on Kerwin Vargas, Jóźwiak, Fuchs, Ortiz and Sergio Ruiz, to replace Shinyashiki, Gaines, Bender, Mora and Ríos.

There were bookings for Morris and Tolo from Seattle, and Mora and Shinyashiki, for Charlotte.

Seattle will next play Los Angeles FC at home, with Charlotte facing Columbus Crew away.
