San Jose 2-1 Chicago: Quakes leave it late to put out the Fire

San Jose beated Chicago Fire 2-1 on Monday at Avaya Stadium. As the table looks today, San Jose and Chicago currently occupy 13th and 13th spots in the league, with 18 points and 17 points respectively after 25 matches.

The first half of the match started favourably for San Jose, when Benjamin Kikanovic gave Quakes the lead just before halftime

San Jose continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Benjamin Kikanovic found the net again at the 87 minute mark. In the end though, Chicago just before the final whistle pull-back via a Gutierrez goal, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for San Jose included Thompson, Judson and Salinas for Marie, Gregus and Espinoza, repectively. Chicago brought on Andre Reynolds Ii, Gutierrez, Espinoza, Torres and Durán, to replace Bornstein, Shaqiri, Sekulić, Herbers and Przybyłko.

There were bookings for Marie, Benjamin Kikanovic and López from San Jose. For Chicago, Mueller and Giménez saw yellow.
