Houston Dynamo fell to an away defeat at the hands of Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Sunday. Both RSL and Houston arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. RSL were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches against Montréal away and Austin at home, by 2-1 and 2-1 respectively. Houston, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-0 victory against LA Galaxy. At the moment, RSL and Houston currently occupy 3rd and 7th spots in the table, with 25 points and 18 points respectively after 20 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Claret and Cobalt, with Wood opening the rout at the 29 minute mark. The score at half time was 1-0.

RSL continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Córdova, 57 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Glad made it 3-0 just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-0.

For RSL, Caldwell, Savarino, Méndez and Nick Besler, came on for Löffelsend, Chang, Córdova and Ruiz. Houston brought on Quintero, Pasher, Picault and Cerén for Baird, Avila, Úlfarsson and Vera.
