Orlando 3-5 D.C.: Black-and-Red win high-scoring encounter in Florida

D.C. United beated Orlando City 5-3 on Tuesday at Exploria Stadium. As the table looks today, Orlando and D.C. currently occupy 7th and 13th spots in the league, with 25 points and 17 points respectively after 25 matches.

D.C. started the match well, with an early goal from Fountas in the 5th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a effort from Fountas at the 8 minute mark to see out the first half 2-0.

Black-and-Red fought back, when Fountas found the net again at the 51 minute mark. However, The Lions weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Torres at the 57 minute mark. The momentum was now with Orlando, who then scored again through a goal from Kara at the 66 minute mark to establish a 3-2. However, Black-and-Red increased their advantage with a Smith goal in the 74th minute to make it 4-2. However, Orlando weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Pato at the 78 minute mark. D.C. in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Robertha and saw the match end 5-3.

Substitutions for Orlando included Araujo, Torres, Michel, Akindele and Lynn for Mendez, Mulraney, Júnior Urso, Ruan and Pereyra, repectively. D.C. brought on Smith, Robertha, Smith, Alfaro and Odoi-Atsem, to replace Sami Guediri, Fountas, Estrada, Julian Gressel and Kamara.

There were bookings for Schlegel from Orlando. For D.C., Robertha saw yellow.
