Galaxy 2 – Minnesota 3: The Loons get valuable away win at StubHub Center

Galaxy on Thursday lost to Minnesota United on a home defeat at StubHub Center. Galaxy arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Portland Timbers. Minnesota were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Inter Miami. Following today’s result, Galaxy are in 6th place, with 24 points from 33 matches, while Minnesota sit in 10th, with 21 points from 33.

It was an impressive opening from Minnesota, when Reynoso gave The Loons the lead, 9 minutes in. The momentum was now with Minnesota, who then scored again through a goal from Fragapane in the 36th minute to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Reynoso just before halftime, which saw the first half end 3-0.

Galaxy took the lead in the second half, when Delgado found the net, 60 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Joveljic made it 3-2 just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Galaxy included Alvarez, Costa, Joveljic, Raveloson and Coulibaly for Víctor Vázquez, Grandsir, Chicharito, Delgado and Williams, repectively. Minnesota brought on Rosales, Hlongwane and Danladi, to replace Arriaga, Amarilla and Reynoso.

The referee booked six players. Williams from Galaxy, who saw yellow cards and Cabral, sent off with a red, as well as for Minnesota Boxall, Fragapane, Trapp and Rosales received yellows.

Next up, Galaxy are away to Sporting Kansas City, whilst Minnesota will travel to face Colorado Rapids.
