Columbus 2-0 Cincinnati: Crew blank the Orange and Blue on way to victory

Columbus Crew beat Cincinnati with a thumping 2-0 victory on Monday at MAPFRE Stadium. After today’s result, Columbus and Cin sit 6th, (29 points) and 7th, (27 points), spots respectively, after 29 matches.

Columbus started the match well, when Cucho found the net, at 16 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Crew continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Zelarayán found the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Columbus included Hurtado, Igbekeme and Degenek for Cucho, Díaz and Zelarayán, repectively. Cin brought on Cameron, Ordonez, Powell, Medunjanin and Harris, to replace John Nelson, Kubo, Ray Gaddis, Cruz and Murphy.

There were bookings for Moreira from Columbus. For Cin, Hagglund and Nwobodo saw yellow.

Columbus next face New England Revolution and Cin are at home to Nashville SC.
