Colorado 2-3 Austin: Los Verdes tame the Rapids after tremendous fightback

Coloradio Rapids on Tuesday lost to Austin on a home defeat at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. As things stand, COLO are currently 12th with 19 points from 25 matches, while Austin sit in 2nd, with 34 points from 25.

COLO started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Abubakar found the net, at 19 minutes. The momentum was now with COLO, who then scored again through a goal from Jonathan Lewis, at 22 minutes to establish a 2-0. However, Los Verdes weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Finlay at the 28 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Driussi just before halftime to see out the first half 2-2.

Austin continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Maxi Urruti in the 59th minute, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for COLO included Barrios and Max for Wilson and Kaye, repectively. Austin replaced Nick Lima, Wolff, Felipe Martins, Djitte and Stroud with Jiménez, Fagundez, Finlay, Maxi Urruti and Driussi.
