Atlanta 1-2 NYC: The Pigeons take maximum points at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Atlanta United fell to a home defeat at the hands of New York at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday. Atlanta and NYC currently occupy 11th and 3rd spots in the league, with 40 points and 55 points respectively after 47 matches.

NYC started strongly in the first half, when Gabriel Pereira gave them the lead in the 9th minute, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Pigeons continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Heber found the net, at 60 minutes. Atlanta in turn, then responded, 67 minutes in, grabbing the lead with an effort from Gutman. When the final whistle blew, the result was 2-1 to NYC.

Substitutions for Atlanta included Josef Martinez, Ríos, Moreno, Franco Ibarra and Caleb Wiley for Dwyer, Gudiño, Rossetto, Mosquera and Amar Sejdic, respectively. NYC brought on Tinnerholm, Heber, Morales, Rodríguez and Andrade, to replace Gray, Talles Magno, Callens, Gabriel Pereira and Parks.

There were bookings for Luiz Araujo, Almada and Purata from Atlanta, and Callens, Rodríguez, Johnson and Tinnerholm, for NYC.
