Lens 3-2 Brest: Sotoca hattrick leads Blood and Gold to the home win

RC Lens made a fine start in the new Ligue 1 season with win against Brest. Today’s result, leave both teams on 0 points and occupying 13th and 14th positions respectively, after their first match.

Blood and Gold started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Florian Sotoca in the 27th minute, which saw the first half end 1-0.

Lens continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Florian Sotoca found the net again at the 62 minute mark. The momentum was now with Lens, who then scored again through a hat trick effort from Florian Sotoca at the 65 minute mark to establish a 3-0. However, The Pirates weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Kevin Danso at the 66 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Romain Del Castillo made it 3-2 in the 82nd minute with a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Lens included Wesley Said, Jimmy Cabot, Ignatius Kpene Ganago, Patrick Berg and Massadio Haidara for David Pereira Da Costa, Przemyslaw Frankowski, Lois Openda, Florian Sotoca and Deiver Machado, repectively. Brest brought on Jean-Kevin Duverne, Hugo Magnetti, Romain Del Castillo, Achraf Dari and Jeremy Le Douaron, to replace Noah Fadiga, Youcef Belaili, Irvin Cardona, Christophe Herelle and Pierre Lees-Melou.

There were bookings for David Pereira Da Costa and Kevin Danso from Lens. For Brest, Pierre Lees-Melou, Youcef Belaili, Lilian Brassier and Brendan Chardonnet saw yellow.

In the second round of action in the Ligue 1 Lens will play against AC Ajaccio away and Brest will play against Olympique de Marseille at home.
