San Luis 1 – Necaxa 2: Los Rayos get narrow win against “Los Atléticos”

Necaxa’s 2-1 win over Atl. San Luis on Monday, was hard fought at Alfonso Lastras Ramirez. San Luis arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Juárez. Necaxa lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Cruz Azul. Following today’s result, San Luis and Necaxa currently occupy 14th and 4th spots in the league, with 7 points and 12 points respectively after 7 matches.

San Luis started the match well, when Milton Gimenez found the net, 10 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Facundo Batista producing an equaliser at the 14 minute mark, bringing Necaxa level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Fernando Madrigal at the 34 minute mark. The score at half time was 2-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 2-1.

Substitutions for San Luis included Uziel Amin Garcia Martinez, Abel Hernandez, Vitinho, Rubens Sambueza and Alejandro Organista for Aldo Cruz, Sabin Merino, Jhon Murillo, Facundo Waller and Ramon Juarez, repectively. Necaxa brought on Heriberto Jurado, Vicente Poggi, Ricardo Monreal, Agustin Oliveros and Jose Godinez, to replace Angelo Araos, Jose Jaoquin Esquivel, Milton Gimenez, Bryan Garnica and Facundo Batista.

There were bookings for Aldo Cruz from San Luis. For Necaxa, Jose Jaoquin Esquivel and Juan Pablo Segovia saw yellow.

San Luis next face Tigres UANL and Necaxa are at home to Monterrey.
