Exeter 0-2 Burton Albion: Brewers press home advantage at St James Park

Burton Albion beat Exeter City with a 2-0 victory on Saturday at St James Park. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Exeter were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-2 to Shrewsbury Town in their last match while Burton Albion had lost their previous match against Portsmouth FC. Exeter are currently 15th with 11 points from 10 matches, while Burton Albion sit in 24th, with 4 points from 10.

After an uneventful first half, Burton Albion continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Adedeji Oshilaja found the net on the 63 minute mark. Burton Albion then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Davis Keillor-Dunn, at 69 minutes to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Exeter included Harry Kite, Sam Nombe, Jack Sparkes and Harry Smith for Jonathan Grounds, Matt Jay, Jake Caprice and Jay Stansfield, respectively. Burton Albion brought on Calum Butcher, Mustapha Carayol and Sam Winnall, to replace Ciaran Gilligan, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Victor Adeboyejo.

There were bookings for Rakeem Harper and Josh Key from Exeter. For Burton Albion, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Sam Hughes, Adedeji Oshilaja and Calum Butcher saw yellow.

Next up, Exeter are away to Forest Green Rovers, whilst Burton Albion will travel to face Shrewsbury Town.
