Bristol Rovers 3-6 Lincoln City: Imps fire six past Rovers at the Memorial

Bristol Rovers suffered a home defeat to Lincoln City on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Bristol Rovers were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 2-0 to Ipswich Town in their last match. Lincoln City were coming off the back of a 2-0 win against Derby County. Bristol Rovers and Lincoln City currently occupy 21st and 8th spots in the league, with 8 points and 13 points respectively after 10 matches.

Lincoln City dominated the first half, when Ben House opened the rout early in the first half. Lincoln City looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Jack Diamond in the 14th minute to establish a 2-0. However, Bristol Rovers refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Aaron Collins on the 18 minute mark. However, Lincoln City then grabbed a effort from Jack Diamond just before half-time. The first half ended 3-1.

Lincoln City started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Matty Virtue found the net on the 51 minute mark. Lincoln City looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a hat trick effort from Jack Diamond, at 56 minutes to establish a 5-1. However, Bristol Rovers refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Ryan Loft, 59 minutes in. However, Lincoln City increased their lead with another Ben House goal in the 61st minute to make it 6-2. In the end though, Bristol Rovers then grabbed a 2nd effort from Aaron Collins on the 65 minute mark, leaving the final score at 6-3.

Substitutions for Bristol Rovers included John Marquis, Harvey Saunders, Paul Coutts and Sylvester Jasper for Harry Anderson, Luke McCormick, Trevor Clarke and Ryan Loft, respectively. Lincoln City brought on Charles Vernam, Adam Jackson, Tom Hopper and Jamie Robson, to replace Jordan Garrick, Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Ben House and Jack Diamond.
