Barnsley 3-1 Charlton Athletic: The Tykes take all 3 points at Oakwell

Charlton Athletic on away loss to Barnsley at Oakwell Ground on Saturday. Barnsley were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Charlton Athletic, meanwhile, were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Barnsley are now in 5th place, with 17 points from 11 matches, while Charlton Athletic sit in 16th, with 11 points from 11.

The Tykes started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Josh Benson found the net on the 10 minute mark, saw the first half 1-0.

Barnsley staged a comeback in the second half, when James Norwood found the net, 54 minutes in. Barnsley looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Devante Cole, at 76 minutes to establish a 3-0. Charlton Athletic in turn, then responded just before the final whistle, grabbing the lead with an effort from Jack Payne, leaving the final score at 3-1.

Substitutions for Barnsley included Adam Phillips, Conor McCarthy, Ziyad Larkeche and Josh Martin for James Norwood, Robbie Cundy, Nicky Cadden and Luke Thomas, respectively. Charlton Athletic brought on Miles Leaburn, Charlie Kirk, Jack Payne, Conor McGrandles and Steven Sessegnon, to replace Scott Fraser, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Jesuran Rak-Sakyi, George Dobson and Mandela Egbo.

Barnsley will next play Fleetwood Town away, with Charlton Athletic facing Oxford United at home.
