Betis 1 – Barca 2: Los Blaugranas secure 3 points at the Estadio Benito Villamarin

Betis were defeated at home by Barcelona at the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Saturday. Betis arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Getafe in their previous game. Barca were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Mallorca. At the moment, Betis are in 5th place, with 58 points from 35 matches, while Barca sit in 2nd, with 69 points from 35.

After a goalless first half, Barca continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Ansu Fati giving Barca the lead at the 76 minute mark. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Marc Bartra producing an equaliser, at 79 minutes, bringing Betis level. Los Blaugranas in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Jordi Alba. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For Betis, Rui Silva, William Carvalho and Rodri, came on for Claudio Bravo, Juanmi and Andres Guardado. Barca brought on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traore, Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig for Memphis Depay, Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres and Gavi.

There were bookings for Marc Bartra from Betis. For Barca, Sergio Busquets and Dani Alves saw yellow.

Betis will next travel to Valencia, while Barca will face Celta Vigo at home.
