Rayo 1 – Real 1: vallecano and The White and Blues play out a draw

Rayo were held to 1-1 draw by Real down on Sunday at Estadio de Vallecas. Rayo were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 1-0 victory against Espanyol. Real, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Barcelona. After today’s result, Rayo and Real currently occupy 11th and 6th spots in the league, with 41 points and 56 points respectively after 34 matches.

Real started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Alexander Sorloth giving The White and Blues the lead, at 33 minutes to see out the first half 0-1.

Rayo took the initiative in the second half, with Falcao finding the net, 78 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

For Rayo, Randy Nteka, Óscar Valentín, Oscar Trejo and Falcao, came on for Sergi Guardiola, Pathe Ciss, Unai Lopez and Isi Palazon. Real brought on Aritz Elustondo, Adnan Januzaj, Joseba Zaldua, Alexander Isak and Ander Guevara, to replace Igor Zubeldia, Illarramendi, Andoni Gorosabel, Portu and Rafinha.

There were bookings for Unai Lopez and Óscar Valentín from Rayo, and Igor Zubeldia, for Real.

Real and Rayo will next play away to Levante and Getafe respectively.
