RMA 4 – Espanyol 0: Los Blancos cruise past Budgerigars at Santiago Bernabeu

RMA suffered an away loss to R Madrid on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu. RMA were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Osasuna away (3-1), the other to Seville away (3-2). Espanyol lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Rayo Vallecano. As things stand, RMA and Espanyol currently occupy 1st and 13th spots in the league, with 81 points and 39 points respectively after 34 matches.

Los Blancos started the game well, with Rodrygo opening the rout at the 33 minute mark. RMA then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a second effort from Rodrygo just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

RMA fought back, with Marco Asensio finding the net in the 55th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Karim Benzema made it 4-0 at the 81 minute mark to make it 4-0.

For RMA, Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema, Isco, Vinicius Junior and Mario Gila, came on for Luka Modric, Mariano Diaz, Casemiro, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo. Espanyol replaced Raul De Tomas, Tonny Vilhena, Oscar Melendo, Yangel Herrera and Fernando Calero for Wu Lei, Didac Vila, Manu Morlanes, Fran Merida and David Lopez.

The referee booked Mariano Diaz and Casemiro for RMA.

RMA will next play Atletico Madrid away, with Espanyol facing Osasuna at home.
