Mallorca 1-1 Espanyol: Victory elusive at Estadi de Son Moix

Mallorca were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Espanyol on Friday at Estadi de Son Moix. Mallorca were looking to continue their good run after winning last match. Espanyol, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Elche. Mallorca are currently 12th with 13 points from 12 matches, while Espanyol sit in 13th, with 11 points from 12.

After a goalless first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Mallorca who started the second half strongly, with an early goal from Vedat Muriqi in the 48th minute. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Jose Carlos Lazo equalised for Espanyol, 70 minutes in. The final result, Mallorca 1, Espanyol 1.

Substitutions for Mallorca included Giovanni Gonzalez, Amath Ndiaye, Angel Rodriguez and Antonio Sanchez for Pablo Maffeo, Dani Rodriguez, Copete and Kang In Lee, respectively. Espanyol replaced Jose Carlos Lazo, Aleix Vidal and Keidi Bare with Edu Exposito, Javi Puado and Martin Braithwaite.

The referee booked Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Giovanni Gonzalez, Raillo and Martin Valjent from Mallorca and Pablo Maffeo went off with a red card, while Espanyol’s Sergi Darder also received a yellow.

Espanyol and Mallorca will next play away to Atletico Madrid and Villarreal respectively.
