Barca 3 – Celta 1: Los Blaugranas beat The Sky Blues at the Nou Camp

On Tuesday, Celta Vigo suffer an away defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Both Barca and Celta arrived on the back of wins. Barca were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against Real Betis away and Mallorca at home, by 2-1 and 2-1 respectively. Celta were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-0 win against Alaves in their last match. At the moment, Barca are in 2nd place, with 72 points from 36 matches, while Celta sit in 11th, with 43 points from 36.

Barca started strongly in the first half, thanks to Memphis Depay giving Los Blaugranas the lead, 30 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-0 just before half-time to secure a 2-0 win.

Barca started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early 2nd effort from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 48th minute. Celta in turn, then responded at the 50 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Iago Aspas and seeing the game end 3-1.

For Barca, Riqui Puig, Ansu Fati, Clement Lenglet, Luuk De Jong and Óscar Mingueza, came on for Ferran Torres, Memphis Depay, Ronald Araujo, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Dani Alves. Celta replaced Jeison Murillo, Renato Tapia, Gabriel Veiga, Jose Fontán and Augusto Solari with Kevin Vazquez, Thiago Galhardo, Fran Beltran, Denis Suarez and Franco Cervi.

The referee booked Eric Garcia, Frenkie De Jong and Jordi Alba for Barca and Jeison Murillo saw the red card, for Celta.

Barca will play their next fixture away against Getafe, while Celta will face Elche at home.
