O’Higgins 2-2 Unión La Calera: Honours even at El Teniente

O’Higgins were helde ach other to a 2-2 draw by Unión La Calera on Wednesday at El Teniente. O’Higgins were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Antofagasta at home (1-0), the other to Coquimbo Unido away (1-0) whilst Unión La Calera had lost their previous match against Curicó Unido. O’Higgins and Unión La Calera sit 7th, (36 points) and 12th, (27 points), spots respectively, after 25 matches.

Unión La Calera found the net first, when Williams Alarcon gave them the lead, 20 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as Pablo Hernandez equalised for O’Higgins on the 39 minute mark, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

O’Higgins took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Matias Marin on the 63 minute mark. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Lucas Passerini equalised for Unión La Calera just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-2.

Substitutions for O’Higgins included Esteban Moreira, Juan Fuentes, Sebastian Ubilla, Diego Carrasco and Facundo Castro for Matias Donoso, Pablo Hernandez, Matias Marin, Facundo Barcelo and Gaston Lodico, respectively. Unión La Calera brought on Sebastian Saez, Yerco Oyanedel, Mathias Vidangossy and Brayan Garrido, to replace Santiago Garcia, Nicolas Orellana, Matias Cavalleri and Gonzalo Castellani.

There were bookings for Fausto Grillo, Sebastian Ubilla and Camilo Moya from O’Higgins, and Lucas Passerini, for Unión La Calera.

O’Higgins will next travel to Ñublense, while Unión La Calera will face Coquimbo Unido at home.
