La Serena 0-1 Antofagasta: Visitors dig out a narrow success at La Portada

La Serena on home loss to Antofagasta at La Portada on Sunday. La Serena were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Colo Colo. Antofagasta, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Univ de Chile. At the moment, La Serena are in 13th place in the table and have 17 points while Antofagasta sit in 16th with 12 points after 18 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Antofagasta continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Gabriel Torres gave Antofagasta the lead in the 66th minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for La Serena included Federico Andrada, Luckas Carreno, Lucas Alarcon, Angelo Quinones and Juan Cavallaro for Matias Fernandez, Cristian Erbes, Victor Ramon, Jeison Fuentealba and Jaime Carreno, repectively. Antofagasta brought on Gabriel Torres, Marco Collao, Jason Flores, Ariel Uribe and Leandro Vega, to replace Maykol Sanchez, Brandon Estay, Ivan Ledezma, Manuel Lopez and Byron Nieto.

The referee booked seven players. Victor Ramon, Santiago Dittborn, Marcelo Herrera and Humberto Suazo from La Serena, who saw yellow cards and Santiago Dittborn (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Antofagasta Federico Bravo and Byron Nieto received yellows.

La Serena will play their next fixture away against Coquimbo Unido, while Antofagasta will face Audax Italiano at home.
