Huachipato 2-2 Curicó : Curicó fight back twice to claim a point

Huachipato were held to 2-2 draw by Curicó down on Sunday at Estadio Cap. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Huachipato were looking to continue their run, following a 2-1 victory against Palestino while Curicó were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-0 victory against Coquimbo Unido. As it stands, Huachipato and Curicó sit 7th, (23 points) and 4th, (25 points), in the league respectively, after 16 matches.

Huachipato started strongly in the first half, when Javier Altamirano found the net, 13 minutes in and managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Curicó took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Rodrigo Holgado in the 60th minute. However, each side looked hungry to win and Huachipato then found the back of the net, 69 minutes in thanks to Luciano Nequecaur, taking the score to 2-1. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Felipe Fritz equalised for Curicó in the 73rd minute and saw the match end 2-2.

Substitutions for Huachipato included Nicolas Baeza, Maxi Rodriguez, Joaquin Gutierrez and Carlos Lobos for Marcelo Canete, Luciano Nequecaur, Cris Martinez and Gonzalo Montes, repectively. Curicó brought on Felipe Fritz, Joaquin Gonzalez, Cristian Bustamante and Diego Urzua, to replace Bayron Oyarzo, Ronald de la Fuente, Rodrigo Holgado and Felipe Ortiz.

The referee booked Walter Mazzantti from Huachipato and Walter Mazzantti went off with a red card, while Curicó’s Federico Castro also received a yellow.

Huachipato will next travel to Audax Italiano, while Curicó will face Cobresal at home.
