Curicó 3-1 Univ de Chile: No joy for visitors at Estadio La Granja

Curicó Unido snatched all three points from Univ de Chile in a 3-1 victory on Saturday, at Estadio La Granja. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Curicó wanted to continue adding points after a scoreless draw against O’Higgins in their previous match. Univ de Chile, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As things stand, Curicó are in 3rd place in the table and have 36 points while Univ de Chile sit in 12th with 22 points after 22 matches.

The first half of the match started favourably for Curicó, with an early goal from Yerko Leiva in the 2nd minute, concluding the first half 1-0.

Univ de Chile took the lead in the second half, when Dario Osorio found the net, 56 minutes in. However, each side looked hungry to win and Curicó then found the back of the net, 61 minutes in thanks to Rodrigo Holgado, taking the score to 2-1. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Juan Pablo Gomez just before the final whistle to make it 3-1.

Substitutions for Curicó included Diego Urzua, Felipe Ortiz, Bayron Oyarzo, Felipe Fritz and Jose Rojas for Mario Sandoval, Joaquin Gonzalez, Federico Castro, Diego Coelho and Franco Bechtholdt, repectively. Univ de Chile replaced Jeisson Vargas, Dario Osorio and Marcelo Morales for Felipe Seymour, Junior Fernandes and Cristian Palacios.

The referee booked Juan Pablo Gomez from Curicó. Univ de Chile had the worst of it though, with Dario Osorio and Yonathan Andia seeing yellow, and Alvaro Brun then sent off with a red.

Curicó will next travel to Palestino, while Univ de Chile will face U. Católica at home.
