Cobresal 3-1 Unión La Calera: Cobresal pull clear with strong second-half performance

Cobresal beat Unión La Calera with a thumping 3-1 victory on Sunday at El Cobre, El Salvador. Cobresal were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to Curicó Unido. Unión La Calera are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following today’s result, Cobresal are in 3rd place in the table and have 30 points while Unión La Calera sit in 14th with 15 points after 18 matches.

Cobresal started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Cecilio Waterman gave Cobresal the lead in the 11th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Guillermo Pacheco equalised for Unión La Calera just before halftime to see out the first half 1-1.

Cobresal rallied after this and were rewarded, when Alejandro Camargo found the net at the 62 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Juan Gaete, 69 minutes in to make it 3-1.

Cobresal brought on Cesar Munder, Pablo Cardenas and Cristopher Mesias for Juan Gaete, Mauro Gonzalez and Nelson Sepulveda. Unión La Calera brought on Lucas Passerini, Patricio Flores and Nicolas Orellana, to replace Sebastian Saez, Mathias Vidangossy and Henry Sanhueza.

There were bookings for Juan Gaete from Cobresal. For Unión La Calera, Mathias Vidangossy and Pedro Henrique saw yellow.

Next up, Cobresal are away to Ñublense, whilst Unión La Calera will travel to face Everton Viña del Mar.
