Wigan Athletic 0-1 Watford: The Hornets get narrow win away at Dw Stadium

Wigan Athletic were defeated at home by Watford at Dw Stadium on Saturday. Wigan Athletic were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers. Watford were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-0 win against Luton Town in their last match. Wigan Athletic are now in 20th place on the table and have 19 points while Watford sit in 7th with 26 points after 18 matches.

After an uneventful first half, The Hornets continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Joao Pedro gave them the lead just before the final whistle, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for Wigan Athletic included Josh Magennis, Tom Naylor, Anthony Scully and Thelo Aasgaard for Nathan Broadhead, Jordan Cousins, Tendayi Darikwa and James McClean, respectively. Watford brought on Samuel Kalu, Yaser Asprilla and Mario Gaspar, to replace Ken Sema, Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Dan Gosling.

There were bookings for Tendayi Darikwa and Graeme Shinnie from Wigan Athletic. For Watford, Francisco Sierralta and Hamza Choudhury saw yellow.

Wigan Athletic will next play Stoke City at home, with Watford facing Cardiff City away.
