Sunderland 2-2 QPR: R’s fightback denies the Mackems at Stadium of Light

Sunderland AFC were held to 2-2 draw by QPR down on Saturday at Stadium of Light. Both Sunderland AFC and QPR arrived on the back of wins. Sunderland AFC were looking to pick up points after winning last match while QPR were coming off the back of a 3-2 win against Middlesbrough. After today’s result, Sunderland AFC are in 6th place in the table and have 5 points while QPR sit in 9th with 4 points after 3 matches.

Sunderland AFC started strongly in the first half, when Ross Stewart gave Sunderland AFC the lead, at 31 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Ellis Reco Simms made it 2-0 just before halftime to see out the first half 2-0.

QPR took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Ilias Chair in the 87th minute. Rangers then scored once more and found an equaliser thanks to a goal from Seny Dieng just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-2.

Substitutions for Sunderland AFC included Luke O’Nien, Patrick Roberts, Bailey Wright and Elliot Embleton for Daniel Ballard, Ellis Reco Simms, Alex Pritchard and Dan Neill, repectively. QPR brought on Tyler Roberts, Andre Dozzell, Sinclair Armstrong and Macauley Bonne, to replace Albert Adomah, Stefan Johansen, Olamide Shodipo and Niko Hamalainen.

There were bookings for Jack Clarke, Corry Evans and Lynden Gooch from Sunderland AFC. For QPR, Sam Field and Rob Dickie saw yellow.

Sunderland AFC will next play Sheffield United away, with QPR facing Blackpool at home.
