Rotherham 4-0 Reading: The Millers storm to big home win over the Royals

Rotherham suffered an away loss to Rotherham United on Saturday at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Rotherham were looking for a victory following a 1-1 draw with Swansea City in their previous game. Reading had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-1 victory against Cardiff City. After today’s result, Rotherham are in 8th place in the table and have 4 points while Reading sit in 17th with 3 points after 3 matches.

Rotherham started the match well, when Richard Wood opened the rout early in the first half. The Millers looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Conor Washington at the 15 minute mark to establish a 2-0. Rotherham then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Chiedozie Ogbene just before halftime to see out the first half 4-0. The second part ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for Rotherham included Scott High, Georgie Kelly, Oliver Rathbone, Lee Peltier and Cohen Bramall for Daniel Barlaser, Conor Washington, Jamie Lindsay, Grant Hall and Shane Ferguson, repectively. Reading replaced Jeff Hendrick and Junior Hoilett for Mamadi Camara and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan.

The referee booked two players from Reading, Andy Yiadom and Shane Long.

Rotherham will next play Preston North End away, with Reading facing Blackburn Rovers at home.
