Celtic 1-1 Shakhtar: Bhoys fail to hold on to lead at Celtic Park

On Tuesday, Celtic and Shakhtar played out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park. Celtic were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-0 to RB Leipzig. Shakhtar had secured a point against R Madrid in their previous match. Celtic are now in 4th place, with 2 points from 5 matches, while Shakhtar sit in 3rd, with 6 points from 5.

Celtic took the lead, with a goal from Giorgos Giakoumakis, 34 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0.

Shakhtar took the initiative in the second half, when Mykhailo Mudryk found the net in the 58th minute, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Celtic included Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy, James Forrest and David Turnbull for Sead Haksabanovic, Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Reo Hatate, respectively. Shakhtar brought on Danylo Sikan, Ivan Petryak and Sergey Krivtsov, to replace Lassina Franck Traore, Mykhailo Mudryk and Georgiy Sudakov.

The referee booked four players from Shakhtar, Mykola Matvienko, Valerii Bondar, Taras Stepanenko and Oleksandr Zubkov.

Celtic will next travel to R Madrid, while Shakhtar will face RB Leipzig at home.
