Barcelona 5-1 Viktoria Plzen: Lewandowski hattrick caps win for Los Blaugranas

Viktoria Pilsen was humiliated by Barcelona who enjoyed victory in her first match in the new Champions League season.

Barca started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Franck Kessie opened the rout, at 13 minutes. Los Blaugranas looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 34th minute to establish a 2-0. However, Viktoria refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Jan Sykora on the 44 minute mark. However, Barca then grabbed a effort from Robert Lewandowski just before half-time. The first half ended 3-1.

Los Blaugranas continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Robert Lewandowski found the net once more, 67 minutes in. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres, 71 minutes in to give a final score of 5-1.

Substitutions for Barca included Gerard Pique, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Memphis Depay and Pablo Torre Carral for Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Ousmane Dembele and Franck Kessie, respectively. Viktoria brought on Fortune Akpan Bassey, Erik Jirka, Vaclav Pilar, Ales Cermak and Libor Holik, to replace Tomas Chory, John Mosquera, Jan Sykora, Adam Vlkanova and Vaclav Jemelka.

The referee booked Ludek Pernica, John Mosquera, Tomas Chory and Vaclav Jemelka for Viktoria.

In the second round of action in the Champions League Barca will travel to play Bayern Munich and Viktoria will play Internazionale at home.
