Leipzig 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen: The Red Bulls east past The Company’s Eleven

RB Leipzig defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 on Saturday at Red Bull Arena. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Leipzig were aiming to improve their league standing after a 3-3 draw against Augsburg. Bayer, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Wolfsburg. Leipzig are now in 5th place on the table and have 19 points while Bayer sit in 16th with 9 points after 12 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Leipzig, when Christopher Nkunku gave them the lead, 32 minutes in, and they saw out the first half 1-0.
The Red Bulls once more applied the pressure in the second half, when Timo Werner found the net, at 83 minutes, leaving the final score at 2-0.
Substitutions for Leipzig included Amadou Haidara, Josko Gvardiol, Dani Olmo, Marcel Halstenberg and Andre Silva for Kevin Kampl, Mohamed Simakan, Dominik Szoboszlai, David Raum and Christopher Nkunku, respectively. Bayer brought on Jeremie Frimpong, Mitchel Bakker, Exequiel Palacios, Patrik Schick and Callum Hudson-Odoi, to replace Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Daley Sinkgraven, Nadiem Amiri, Adam Hlozek and Amine Adli.
There were bookings for Kevin Kampl, Abdou Diallo and Benjamin Henrichs from Leipzig, and Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapie, for Bayer.
Leipzig will next travel to Hoffenheim, while Bayer will face Union Berlin at home.
