Mainz were held to 0-0 draw by Union Berlin down on Sunday at the OPEL Arena. Both Mainz and Union Berlin arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Mainz were looking to pick up points, following a 2-1 victory against Bochum. Union Berlin, on the other hand, were coming off the back of a 3-1 win against Hertha. After today’s result, both teams are on 4 points and occupy 5th and 4th places respectively after 2 matches.

Substitutions for Mainz included Angelo Fulgini, Leandro Martins, Marlon Mustapha and Delano Burgzorg for Lee Jae Sung, Anton Stach, Marcus Ingvartsen and Karim Onisiwo, repectively. Union Berlin replaced Andras Schafer, Morten Thorsby, Kevin Behrens, Sven Michel and Christopher Trimmel with Janik Haberer, Genki Haraguchi, Jordan Siebatcheu, Sheraldo Becker and Julian Ryerson.

The referee booked Karim Onisiwo for Mainz.

Mainz will next play Augsburg away, with Union Berlin facing RB Leipzig at home.
