São Paulo 2 – Mineiro 2: Honours even at Morumbí
São Paulo were helde ach other to a 2-2 draw by Mineiro on Wednesday at Morumbí. Both São Paulo and Mineiro arrived on the back of wins. São Paulo were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Atlético Goianense at home and Juventude away, by 2-1 and 2-1 respectively. Mineiro, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Juventude. São Paulo and Mineiro currently occupy 8th and 7th spots in the league, with 50 points and 51 points respectively after 35 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Mineiro, when Eduardo Vargas gave them the lead, 25 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Jonathan Calleri in the 40th minute, brought São Paulo level. São Paulo then scored once more and turned the match thanks to a second effort from Jonathan Calleri just before half-time to see out the first half 2-1.
Mineiro took the initiative in the second half, when Eduardo Vargas found the net once more, 81 minutes in, to level the score at 2-2.
Substitutions for São Paulo included Luan, Luizao, Marcos Guilherme, Igor Gomes and Nahuel Bustos for Patryck, Reinaldo, Luciano, Rodrigo Nestor and Rafinha, respectively. Mineiro brought on Rever, Cristian Pavon, Mariano, Rubens and Eduardo Sasha for Junior Alonso, Ademir, Guga, Dodo and Jair.
