Goiás 1-1 Avai: Host claw their way back to a late draw

On Saturday, Goiás and Avai were held to a 1-1 draw at Estádio da Serrinha. Goiás arrived at the match looking pick up points after losing their last match 3-0 to Palmeiras. Avai are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As the table looks today, Goiás and Avai currently occupy 11th and 15th spots in the table, with 26 points and 23 points respectively after 22 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Avai, thanks to a goal from Bissoli just before halftime, which saw the first half end 1-0.

Goiás took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Dada Belmonte at the 79 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Goiás included Vinicius, Nicolas, Renato Junior, Hugo and Caio for Fellipe Ramos Ignez Bastos, Luan Dias da Silva, Matheus Sales, Pedro Raul and Dada Belmonte, repectively. Avai brought on Rodrigo, Thales, Natanael, Eduardo Biasi and Muriqui, to replace Lucas Ventura, Bissoli, William Pottker, Raniele and Paolo Guerrero.

The referee booked four players. Savio from Goiás, who saw yellow cards and Savio (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Avai William Pottker and Rodrigo received yellows.

Goiás will play away against Atl. Mineiro, while Avai will face Internacional at home.
