Goiás 2-2 America: Four-goal thriller ends in a stalemate

On Thursday, Goiás and America played out a 2-2 draw at Estádio da Serrinha. Goiás were looking to continue their good run, following a 2-1 victory against Cuiaba, while America had lost their previous match against Flamengo. Goiás and America are 14th, (41 points) and 10th, (45 points), spots respectively, after 34 matches.

After an uneventful first half, America fought back the second half, when Aloisio gave them the lead in the 60th minute. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Vinicius Silva, 61 minutes in, brought Goiás level. However, each side looked hungry to win and America then found the back of the net, at 88 minutes thanks to Wellington Paulista, taking the score to 2-1. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Diego equalised for Goiás just before the full time. The final result, Goiás 2, America 2.

Substitutions for Goiás included Nicolas, Matheus Sales, Pedrinho, Danilo Barcelos and Fellipe Ramos Ignez Bastos for Maguinho, Auremir, Dada Belmonte, Hugo and Caio, respectively. America brought on Aloisio, Wellington Paulista, Indio Ramirez, Arthur Augusto De Matos Soares and Patric, to replace Everaldo, Gonzalo Mastriani, Felipe Azevedo, Matheusinho and Danilo Avelar.

There were bookings for Maguinho and Auremir from Goiás. For America, Matheusinho, Wellington Paulista and Patric saw yellow.

Goiás will next travel to Athletico Paranaense, while America will face Internacional at home.
