Coritiba 2-2 Corinthians: Honours even in exciting draw as Corinthians are held
Coritiba were helde ach other to a 2-2 draw by Corinthians on Thursday at Estadio Couto Pereira. Both Coritiba and Corinthians arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Coritiba were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Flamengo at home (1-0), the other to Juventude away (1-0) whilst Corinthians were coming from consecutive wins against Ceará and Flamengo. Coritiba are currently 15th with 41 points from 37 matches, while Corinthians sit in 4th, with 64 points from 37.
Coritiba dominated the first half, when Alef Manga gave them the lead in the 10th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Du Queiroz, 30 minutes in brought Corinthians level. However, Coritiba found the back of the net following another Alef Manga goal on the 37 minute mark, finishing the first half 2-1.
Corinthians started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Yuri Alberto in the 48th minute. The match ended wih a 2-2 draw.
Substitutions for Coritiba included Leo Gamalho, Warley, Egidio and Biel for Cadorini, Regis, Rafael Santos and Fabricio Daniel, respectively. Corinthians brought on Mateus Vital, Rafael Ramos, Raul Gustavo, Roni and Maycon, to replace Giuliano, Ramiro, Bruno Melo, Fausto Vera and Roger Guedes.
The referee booked Gabriel, Rafael Santos, Jhon Chancellor and Bruno Gomes from Coritiba. Corinthians had the worst of it though, with Roger Guedes, Fausto Vera, Cassio, Mateus Vital and Yuri Alberto seeing yellow, and Bruno Mendez then sent off with a red.
Coritiba will next travel to Cuiaba, while Corinthians will face Atl. Mineiro at home.
