Botafogo 1-1 Ceará: Visitors recover to share the points at Nilton Santos

Botafogo were held to 1-1 draw by Ceará down on Saturday at Nilton Santos. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Botafogo were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 1-0 to Corinthians while Ceará were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Palmeiras. As things stand, both teams are on 24 points and sit in 13th and 14th places respectively after 21 matches.

Botafogo scored first, when Victor Cuesta gave Botafogo the lead in the 9th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Ceará started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Stiven Mendoza in the 49th minute. The match ended wih a 1-1 draw.

Substitutions for Botafogo included Vinicius Lopes and Matheus Nascimento for Luis Henrique and Erison Danilo de Souza, repectively. Ceará brought on Cleber Bomfim, Ze Roberto, Erick, Michel and Fernando Sobral, to replace Jhon Vasquez, Cleber Bomfim, Vinicius Lima, Nino Paraiba and Guilherme Castilho.

There were bookings for Lucas Fernandes, Jefferson Ruan Pereira dos Santos and Renzo Saravia from Botafogo, and Luiz Otavio, Ze Roberto, Messias and Michel, for Ceará.

Botafogo next face Atlético Goianense and Ceará are at home to Fortaleza EC.
